Festival of Life – Holburn, London

Saturday 24th Sept 2011

The’ Festival of Life’ took place in Holborn, London. I got there around 11am and cruised the stalls for about 2 hours. The Festival deals with inspirational talks, workshops and has over 80 ethical stalls which all include non-animal products. The stalls ranged from Vegan & Raw food, health proteins & products, eco-friendly products, yoga and much more.  For more info go to www.festivaloflife.net

On my round i met a few interestingly lovely people, which had amazing things on offer.  See below:-

Above:- Theresa Webb who is a Teacher, Chef and Consultant of Wheat-free, Vegan and Raw Living foods had amazing raw cakes on offer. www.kitchenbuddy.eu

Above: I came across this stall that sold all raw food products and Superfoods at a very reasonable price. I ended up buying a bag of Mesquite powder 500g for £10. You can shop online  www.funkyraw.com

Above: I met a lovely man who owns ‘Bio Organix Health’ food store on 141/153 Drummond St, Euston, London. He sells organic food & drink, supplements, protein powders, herbal remedies and more. A jar of 500g Chia seeds costs around £12, he also said that if i live around his shop area I can get an additional 10% off. I think he’s just made a new customer!  www.bio-organixhealth.com

Above: I then tasted this delicious ‘Raw Jam’ made from Goji Berries, mulberries, cranberries, orange, lime, lemon and chia seeds on a raw cracker. It was so delectable that i bought a jar on the spot for £6.50. Well worth every penny i can tell you. Its great on a cracker with any type of nut butter or even tahini. I also bought a raw chocolate fudge from her. She makes everything herself. www.rawveda.co.uk

Above: Merryn Ironmonger runs her own company called ‘raw delights’. I bought a packet of 150g Buckwheat Granola which had been minimally processed and dehydrated. It came in a recyclable package. It was raw, vegan, gluten free and wheat free. A must for all granola lovers. She also had two other flavours on offer but i decided to get the ‘nut special’. For more information on her products go to www.rawdelights.co.uk. You won’t be disappointed.

Above: Clive from ‘Pulsin’ had these amazing vegan nutritional snacks/bars on offer. He had a bowl of tasters and i must say they were yummy! He also had Raw Chocolate Kits on offer for those of you who want to start making your own raw chocolate. You can buy all these and more from their site www.pulsin.co.uk.

Above: The next  stall I went too was ‘The Raw Greek’. This lovely Greek couple have already published their own cookbook called ‘The Raw Greek’ which you can buy from Amazon. All their products where from Greece, ranging from sundried tomatoes, dried figs, honey, olives, pastelis (sesame seed and fig snacks) plus much more. Go to their website for more yummy ingredients. www.therawgreek.com

Above: Daniel from ‘Go for Life’ had goji berries, mulberries, inca berries, raw cacao nibs plus more on offer. He introduced me to the yummy combination of Organic Mulberries and Raw cacao nibs. I think there’s a recipe in the making here! They also do a range of Organic Powders. For more information on their products go to www.goforlife.co.uk

Above: ‘The Raw Chocolate Company’ had raw chocolate covered goji berries, mulberries and raisins on offer. They were amazing! I bought a packet of coconut palm sugar. If you go to their website you can also buy ‘bee pollen’ and all sorts of other organic powders. Well worth a visit. www.therawchocolatecompany.com

Above: Socrates and his wife are passionate in running this wonderful company called ‘Soapnuts’. These amazing soap nut shells are the dried husks of the soap berry nut found on the soap berry tree native to Southern Asia.  You can use these as a natural washing detergent, hand soap, kitchen cleaner, toothpaste and much more. They are also a natural fabric softener.  For more information on this wonderful product go to www.soapnuts.co.uk or www.livingnaturallysoapnuts.com

Above: I bought 100g of powdered Spirulina and a bag of ‘Chili Spirulina Hemp Flax Crackers’ from this lovely lady called Heather from ‘Conscious Earth Company’. The crackers where a major success to all that tasted them. The subtle chilli aftertaste was delightful. She makes all the products herself. I highly recommend you go to her site which offers so much more than just crackers. From beauty products to nut butters, juicers, sea vegetables, clothing and much more. www.consciousearthcompany.com

Above: And lastly i went to the ‘inSpiral’ stall. After all my chatting away, my mouth was dry so I had to have a Mango Lassi. I think i died and went to heaven drinking this. They had so much on offer from salads, smoothies, raw chocolates, raw cakes and a selection of dehydrated crackers. They also had this amazing ‘raw lasagna’. If i wasn’t so full from the Mango lassi and all the tasters i would have had one for lunch. It looked divine.  You can find this vegan eco Cafe, bar and music venue  at 250 Camden High St, London.
